Largely unnoticed, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has given a big impetus to bridging the infrastructure and connectivity deficit in India’s North-East to both mainland India and to South-East Asia. The cornerstones of the new policy were put down in the railway budget and elaborated in the national budget besides being outlined by key ministers in the cabinet.
