Narendra Modi launches 11 pro-poor policies of Gujarat
Gujarat govt's initiatives are for empowering women and youth to fight poverty, says Modi
Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is on a two-day tour of his home state Gujarat, launched a set of 11 new pro-poor initiatives of the state government, called “Swavalamban Abhiyan".
Addressing a large gathering at Mahatma Mandir in the state capital of Gandhinagar, the Prime Minister said that 17 September is observed as Vishwakarma Day across the country, and that Vishwakarma is revered by all shram-yogis (people who live by hard work).
The Gujarat government’s new initiatives are for the benefit of “shram yogis", especially women and youth, so that they are empowered to fight poverty, Modi added. Schemes were also launched for financial assistance to labourers for health treatment, building houses and interest subsidy to young entrepreneurs and artisans.
Speaking on the occasion, Gujarat chief minister Anandiben Patel termed the set of welfare schemes launched for the poor on Modi’s birthday as a unique and historical gift to the poor.
