Renault to launch two new vehicles next year in India
The car maker aims to increase its market share from the present 2.6% to 5% over the next two years
Kochi: Renault India Pvt. Ltd said it will launch a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and a small car next year, aiming to increase its market share to 5% in two years.
“We are ready with the next car. We have products in the pipeline which will give us volume and we want to cross 5% market share in two years time," Renault’s country chief executive officer and managing director Sumit Sawhney told reporters.
Renault’s market share in India is 2.6% and by the end of March, it is expected to touch close to 3%, Sawhney said.
The company has sold over 100,000 Dusters and is committed to bringing the right product to the market, he said.
Aiming to increase its reach in Kerala, the car maker hopes to have dealerships in 12 locations in the state by December. A state-of-the-art dealership, the seventh in the state, was opened at Kottayam on Sunday.
Renault has plans to augment its network across India to 175 dealerships by the end of this year. In south India, it will have 45 outlets, up from the current 38 outlets, by the end of this year.
Wooing customers during the “Onam" festival, Renault has launched a campaign to win five Dusters, which will run till 30 September.
Renault India, a fully owned subsidiary of Renault SAS, currently offers five models in the Indian market—the premium sedan Fluence, the luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) Koleos, the premium compact car Pulse, the SUV Duster and the premium sedan Scala.
Renault India also exports the Duster to right-hand drive markets, with India set to become a production hub for right-hand drive cars.
