Hitoshi Kono named Isuzu Motors India’s new deputy managing director
Kono will succeed Shigeru Wakabayashi, who would assume the role of division COO, Isuzu business division, Mitsubishi
Chennai: Isuzu Motors India (IMI) on Tuesday said Hitoshi Kono will take over as the deputy managing director of Isuzu Motors India, effective 14 February.
Kono will succeed Shigeru Wakabayashi, who would assume the role of division chief operating officer, Isuzu business division, Mitsubishi Corp., Japan.
Wakabayashi played a key role in liaising with the Andhra Pradesh government for Isuzu’s new manufacturing plant at Sri City in the state, the company said.
IMI recently said that it has suspended production at the Hindustan Motor plant in Thiruvallur in Chennai.
The company will start operations at its new manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, from April.
With an initial capacity at 50,000 units per year, the company will scale up the production to 120,000 units per year with an accumulated investment of R. 3,000 crore.
The company unveiled Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, India’s first adventure utility vehicle, at the Auto Expo in Delhi last week.
