Mumbai: Software, services and consultancy firm IBM India on Tuesday said it has opened a client centre in Delhi, which will address business challenges through cloud computing, analytics, mobile and social technologies. The centre, an IBM statement said, will provide a “collaborative, customized and digitally immersive environment."

Clients, business partners and IBM experts can meet and access knowledge, skills and innovation at the centre, IBM said.

“India is a key market for IBM with high business potential and our endeavour is focused on bringing value and vertical experience to our clients. The key objective of this new experience is to engage and build stronger partnerships with our clients," said Anuj K. Jain, vice-president and partner, industry and value creation leader, IBM India and South Asia.

The centre will host cross-industry solution briefings, demonstrations, workshops and multiple command centre environments. It houses IBM Smarter Cities technology, including the IBM Intelligent Operations Center, which is integral to IBM’s efforts to help the region’s IT businesses, developers, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and academics drive innovation and growth.

The Delhi facility joins a network of over 100 IBM client centres worldwide, supporting the full range of the company’s products and solutions, and providing clients access to its global experience and expertise.

On 21 August, India’s third largest software services exporter, Wipro Ltd said it had partnered with Cisco Systems Inc. to open a client centre in California, US, for its customers to experience the advantages of using Big Data, cloud, and social media in their businesses.

A survey of 410 global IT decision-makers by research firm Offshore Insights, released in February, forecast that Global 2000 firms will spend 15-16% of their IT services and outsourcing budgets on social media, mobility, analytics and cloud (SMAC) and India will export $15 billion worth of SMAC software and services in fiscal 2017.
