Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the TCS Japan Technology and Culture Academy
New Delhi: Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), India’s largest software services provider, on Tuesday launched a new learning programme for its trainees in Japan. The programme is aimed at enhancing technology knowledge and cultural understanding between Indian and Japanese information technology (IT) professionals.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Japan currently, inaugurated the TCS Japan Technology and Culture Academy.
Earlier in April, TCS and Mitsubishi Corp. merged their IT operations in Japan, with TCS having a 51% stake in the new venture, Tata Consultancy Services Japan.
“The 21st century is the century of knowledge and technology and all of you will gain knowledge from travelling in India," Modi said while addressing the first batch of 48 trainees. “You are going as employees of TCS, but I want you to come back to Japan as ambassadors of India."
“Japan and India have the potential to create a strong economic, and business partnership," said N. Chandrasekaran, chief executive officer and managing director of TCS. “TCS is proud to play a role to strengthen the relationship between these two great nations by investing in Japan and bringing the best global IT practices to Japanese companies as they look to grow globally."
TCS Japan plans to have more than 4,000 employees in Japan and a dedicated centre located in Pune.
